Please consult a map to confirm all directions. Baltimore-Washington (BWI) airport is the closest, although Harrisburg (PA) is approximately the same distance. Dulles Airport is about 90 minutes south of The Beechmont Inn.
From BWI Airport
At the airport exit, take I-195 to the Baltimore-Washington Expressway (I-295) going toward Baltimore.
Take I-695 north toward Towson.
Take I-795 west toward Reistertown.
Take Maryland Rt. 30 to Hanover (becomes Rt. 94 in Pennsylvania). Hanover is 6 miles over the Maryland/Pennsylvania border.
You will come into Hanover on Baltimore Street. At the center of town turn right on Broadway (Rt. 194) to 315 Broadway. Broadway is a one-way street and The Beechmont is on the right. Look for a clock that stands at the curb and is about 8 - 9 feet tall with Roman numerals. We're the next brick building. Take the drive to the rear of the house and park. Follow the sidewalk to the right or take the ramp on to the porch with the wicker furniture. Ring the doorbell and we'll answer the door.
From northern Baltimore
Take I-83 north to Middletown Road exit. Turn left off exit on Middletown Road. Follow about 8 miles. Bear left at Gardner's Garage on Route 851. Go about 3 miles. Turn left on Route 216. Go about 11 miles. In Hanover, turn left on Route 116 (York Street) Turn right on Broadway (Rt. 194) to 315 Broadway. Broadway is a one-way street and The Beechmont is on the right. Look for a clock that stands at the curb and is about 8 - 9 feet tall with Roman numerals. We're the next brick building. Take the drive to the rear of the house and park. Follow the sidewalk to the right to the porch with the wicker furniture. Ring doorbell.
From Washington, D.C.
Take I-495 (Capital Beltway) north toward Maryland to I-270 (exit 38) toward Frederick, Maryland. Continue north about 30 miles and follow the signs to U.S. 15 north toward Gettysburg. In Gettysburg, take the exit for Route 97 toward Littlestown (about 6 miles). At the signal in Littlestown (it's the only signal in town) turn left on Route 194 north to Hanover. In Hanover, Route 194 is Frederick Street until the square, at which point it turns into Broadway. Continue on Broadway about 3.5 blocks to 315 Broadway.
From Philadelphia
Go west on the turnpike to Harrisburg. Exit to Route 15 south toward Gettysburg. Drive about 14 miles on Route 15 to Route 94 south to Hanover (about 15 miles).
When you reach Hanover, Route 94 is Carlisle Street. Continue to the center of town and turn left on Broadway (Route 194). The Beechmont Inn is about 3.5 blocks from the center of town. See directions above.
Alternatively...you can exit the PA Turnpike at Route 222. Follow it south toward Lancaster to Route 30 west to York. Follow Route 30 around York to Route 116 to Hanover. You will go through the town of Spring Grove (about 6 miles from the turnoff) to the town of Hanover (past Hanover Foods and Snyders of Hanover). You will come into Hanover on York Street. When you reach the center of town turn right on Broadway (at the signal), which is Route 194. Follow directions above. This route, although perhaps a bit closer in terms of mileage, can be full of traffic and slow, especially when the weather is good. Do not select this route in the summer when lots and lots of people from Philadelphia are traveling our way. There is construction on Route 30 west of Lancaster.
From Pittsburgh and points west
Proceed east on Interstate 70/76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike).
In Carlisle, take the exit off the turnpike and follow directions to I-81 south. You will be on I-81 for only a couple of miles around Carlisle. Take the exit marked Hanover/Route 34. Turn (south) on Route 34. Route 34 will become Route 94 into Hanover. The total distance is about 25 miles south of Carlisle.
You will come into Hanover on Carlisle Street (Route 94). At the center of town turn left on Broadway (Rt. 194) to 315 Broadway. Broadway is a one-way street and The Beechmont is on the right. Follow directions above.
From Virginia and points south
Drive north on Route 15 past Frederick and Thurmont, Maryland, toward Gettysburg (or, take Route 26 to Route 194 north from Frederick). In Gettysburg, take the Route 97 exit (near Gettysburg Village outlet mall) east toward Littlestown. Drive about 6 miles to Littlestown and turn left at the signal on Route 194 (north) to Hanover. Drive about six miles to Hanover.
From New York City and New Jersey
Consult a map to reach I-78. Take I-78 west across New Jersey to Pennsylvania. Please be aware of construction that can slow you down. Proceed to the merge with I-81 and drive to the exit on the south side of Carlisle for Hanover, Route 34. Route 34 south will become Route 94 to Hanover (about 25 miles of Carlisle). From Newark, Delaware and South New Jersey
Take Route 1 across the Susquehanna River to Route 440 west to north(west) on Route 543 toward Pylesville. Go west on Route 165 to Brush Corner to north on Route 24 to Route 851. Stay on Route 851 west through Stewartstown, Shrewsbury, and New Freedom. When Route 851 intersects Route 216, turn left (west) toward Hanover. You will drive through Cordorus State Park just before arriving in Hanover.
When Route 216 ends in Hanover, turn left on Route 116, York Street. Proceed into town to the signal at Broadway. Turn right on Broadway (Route 194).
